Reading block 1

શ્રી ગુરૂ ચરન સરોજ રજ, નિજ મન મુકુરૂ સુધારિ । બરનઉં રઘુબર બિમલ જસુ, જો દાયકુ ફલ ચારિ ॥

śrī gurū carana saroja raja, nija mana mukurū sudhāri | baranauṃ raghubara bimala jasu, jo dāyaku phala cāri ||

With the dust of my teacher’s lotus feet, I cleanse the mirror of my mind. I describe the stainless glory of the noble Raghu lord, which grants the four fruits of life.

The four fruits traditionally refer to the four aims of life: dharma, artha, kama and moksha.

બુદ્ધિહીન તનુ જાનકે, સુમિરૌં પવન કુમાર । બલ બુદ્ધિ વિદ્યા દેહુ મોહિં, હરહુ કલેશ વિકાર ॥

buddhihīna tanu jānake, sumirauṃ pavana kumāra | bala buddhi vidyā dehu mohiṃ, harahu kaleśa vikāra ||

Knowing myself to lack understanding, I remember you, son of the Wind. Give me strength, understanding and learning; take away my afflictions and faults.

જય હનુમાન જ્ઞાન ગુન સાગર । જય કપીસ તિહું લોક ઉજાગર ॥

jaya hanumāna jñāna guna sāgara | jaya kapīsa tihuṃ loka ujāgara ||

Hail Hanuman, ocean of knowledge and virtue. Hail lord of the monkeys, renowned in the three worlds.

રામદૂત અતુલિત બલ ધામા । અંજનિ પુત્ર પવન સુત નામા ॥

rāmadūta atulita bala dhāmā | aṃjani putra pavana suta nāmā ||

Rama’s messenger, abode of matchless strength, you are named Anjani’s son and the Wind’s son.

મહાવીર વિક્રમ બજરંગી । કુમતિ નિવાર સુમતિ કે સંગી ॥

mahāvīra vikrama bajaraṃgī | kumati nivāra sumati ke saṃgī ||

Great hero, mighty Bajrangi, you dispel wrong understanding and accompany good understanding.

કંચન બરન વિરાજ સુવેસા । કાનન કુંડલ કુંચિત કેસા ॥

kaṃcana barana virāja suvesā | kānana kuṃḍala kuṃcita kesā ||

Your golden form shines in fine attire; earrings adorn your ears and your hair is curly.

હાથ બજ્ર ઔર ધ્વજા બિરાજૈ । કાંધે મૂંજ જનેઊ સાજૈ ॥

hātha bajra aura dhvajā birājai | kāṃdhe mūṃja janeū sājai ||

A thunderbolt and banner shine in your hand; a sacred thread of munja grass adorns your shoulder.

શંકર સુવન કેસરી નંદન । તેજ પ્રતાપ મહા જગ બંદન ॥

śaṃkara suvana kesarī naṃdana | teja pratāpa mahā jaga baṃdana ||

Offspring of Shankara and son of Kesari, your splendour and power are honoured throughout the world.

Reading block 9

વિદ્યાવાન ગુની અતિ ચાતુર । રામ કાજ કરિબે કો આતુર ॥

vidyāvāna gunī ati cātura | rāma kāja karibe ko ātura ||

Learned, virtuous and exceedingly clever, you are eager to carry out Rama’s work.

Reading block 10

પ્રભુ ચરિત્ર સુનિબે કો રસિયા । રામ લખન સીતા મન બસિયા ॥

prabhu caritra sunibe ko rasiyā | rāma lakhana sītā mana basiyā ||

You delight in hearing the Lord’s deeds; Rama, Lakshmana and Sita dwell in your heart.

Reading block 11

સૂક્ષ્મ રૂપ ધરિ સિયહિં દિખાવા । વિકટ રૂપ ધરિ લંક જલાવા ॥

sūkṣma rūpa dhari siyahiṃ dikhāvā | vikaṭa rūpa dhari laṃka jalāvā ||

Taking a small form, you appeared to Sita; taking a fearsome form, you burned Lanka.

ભીમ રૂપ ધરિ અસુર સંહારે । રામચંદ્ર કે કાજ સંવારે ॥

bhīma rūpa dhari asura saṃhāre | rāmacaṃdra ke kāja saṃvāre ||

Taking a formidable form, you destroyed the demons and accomplished Ramachandra’s tasks.

Reading block 13

લાય સંજીવન લખન જિયાયે । શ્રી રઘુબીર હરષિ ઉર લાયે ॥

lāya saṃjīvana lakhana jiyāye | śrī raghubīra haraṣi ura lāye ||

You brought the life-restoring herb and revived Lakshmana; the noble Raghu hero joyfully embraced you.

Reading block 14

રઘુપતિ કીન્હીં બહુત બડ઼ાઈ । તુમ મમ પ્રિય ભરતહિ સમ ભાઈ ॥

raghupati kīnhīṃ bahuta baṛāī | tuma mama priya bharatahi sama bhāī ||

Rama praised you greatly: ‘You are as dear to me as my brother Bharata.’

Reading block 15

સહસ્ર બદન તુમ્હારો જસ ગાવૈં । અસ કહિ શ્રીપતિ કંઠ લગાવૈં ॥

sahasra badana tumhāro jasa gāvaiṃ | asa kahi śrīpati kaṃṭha lagāvaiṃ ||

‘A thousand mouths sing your glory,’ said the Lord of Shri, drawing you to his neck in an embrace.

સનકાદિક બ્રહ્માદિ મુનિસા । નારદ સારદ સહિત અહીસા ॥

sanakādika brahmādi munisā | nārada sārada sahita ahīsā ||

The sages Sanaka and his companions, Brahma and the other sages, Narada, Sharada and the serpent lord—

જમ કુબેર દિક્પાલ જહાં તે । કવિ કોવિદ કહિ સકે કહાં તે ॥

jama kubera dikpāla jahāṃ te | kavi kovida kahi sake kahāṃ te ||

Yama, Kubera and the guardians of the directions: how could poets and learned people fully describe your glory?

Reading block 18

તુમ ઉપકાર સુગ્રીવહિં કીન્હાં । રામ મિલાય રાજ પદ દીન્હાં ॥

tuma upakāra sugrīvahiṃ kīnhāṃ | rāma milāya rāja pada dīnhāṃ ||

You helped Sugriva, brought him to Rama and gave him the royal station.

Reading block 19

તુમ્હરો મંત્ર વિભીષણ માના । લંકેશ્વર ભયે સબ જગ જાના ॥

tumharo maṃtra vibhīṣaṇa mānā | laṃkeśvara bhaye saba jaga jānā ||

Vibhishana heeded your counsel and became lord of Lanka, as the whole world knows.

Reading block 20

જુગ સહસ્ત્ર યોજન પર ભાનુ | લીલ્યો તાહિ મધુર ફલ જાનુ ॥

juga sahastra yojana para bhānu | līlyo tāhi madhura phala jānu ||

You swallowed the distant sun, described here as ‘yuga-sahasra-yojana’ away, thinking it a sweet fruit.

The source uses the distance compound yuga-sahasra-yojana. Its conventional numerical reading is not a modern astronomical measurement; the translation retains the compound rather than inventing a distance conversion.

Part 2 · blocks 21–40

Reading block 21

પ્રભુ મુદ્રિકા મેલિ મુખ માહીં | જલધિ લાંધી ગયે અચરજ નાહીં ||

prabhu mudrikā meli mukha māhīṃ | jaladhi lāṃdhī gaye acaraja nāhīṃ ||

Putting the Lord’s ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean; that is no wonder for you.

દુર્ગમ કાજ જગત કે જેતે | સુગમ અનુગ્રહ તુમ્હરે તેતે ||

durgama kāja jagata ke jete | sugama anugraha tumhare tete ||

All the difficult tasks in the world become easy through your grace.

Reading block 23

રામ દુઆરે તુમ રખવારે | હોત ન આજ્ઞા બિનુ પૈસારે ||

rāma duāre tuma rakhavāre | hota na ājñā binu paisāre ||

You guard Rama’s doorway; without your permission no one enters.

Reading block 24

સબ સુખ લહૈ તુમ્હારી સરના | તુમ રક્ષક કાહુ કો ડરના ||

saba sukha lahai tumhārī saranā | tuma rakṣaka kāhu ko ḍaranā ||

All happiness is found in your shelter; with you as protector, whom need one fear?

Reading block 25

આપન તેજ સમ્હારૌ આપે | તીનો લોક હાંક તે કાંપે ||

āpana teja samhārau āpe | tīno loka hāṃka te kāṃpe ||

You alone contain your own power; the three worlds tremble at your roar.

Reading block 26

ભુત પિશાચ નિકટ નહિં આવૈ | મહાવીર જબ નામ સુનાવૈ ||

bhuta piśāca nikaṭa nahiṃ āvai | mahāvīra jaba nāma sunāvai ||

Ghosts and spirits do not come near when the great hero’s name is spoken.

Reading block 27

નાસે રોગ હરે સબ પીરા | જપત નિરંતર હનુમંત બિરા ||

nāse roga hare saba pīrā | japata niraṃtara hanumaṃta birā ||

Illness is destroyed and all pain removed through constantly repeating the name of the heroic Hanuman.

Reading block 28

સંકટ સે હનુમાન છુડાવૈ | મન કર્મ બચન ધ્યાન જો લાવૈ ||

saṃkaṭa se hanumāna chuḍāvai | mana karma bacana dhyāna jo lāvai ||

Hanuman frees from distress those who attend to him in thought, action and speech.

Reading block 29

સબ પર રામ તપસ્વી રાજા | તિન કે કાજ સકલ તુમ સાજા ||

saba para rāma tapasvī rājā | tina ke kāja sakala tuma sājā ||

Rama, the ascetic king, stands above all; you accomplish all his tasks.

Reading block 30

ઔર મનોરથ જો કોઈ લાવે | સોઈ અમિત જીવન ફલ પાવે ||

aura manoratha jo koī lāve | soī amita jīvana phala pāve ||

Whoever brings another wish receives an immeasurable fruit in life.

Reading block 31

ચારો જુગ પરતાપ તુમ્હારા | હૈ પ્રસિધ્ધ જગત ઉજીયારા ||

cāro juga paratāpa tumhārā | hai prasidhdha jagata ujīyārā ||

Your might extends through the four ages; your renown illuminates the world.

Reading block 32

સાધુ સંત કે તુમ રખવારે | અસુર નિકંદન રામ દુલારે ||

sādhu saṃta ke tuma rakhavāre | asura nikaṃdana rāma dulāre ||

You protect the good and the saints, destroy demons and are dear to Rama.

Reading block 33

અષ્ટ સિધ્ધિ નૌ નિધિ કે દાતા | અસ બર દીન જાનકી માતા ||

aṣṭa sidhdhi nau nidhi ke dātā | asa bara dīna jānakī mātā ||

You grant the eight accomplishments and nine treasures; Mother Janaki gave you this boon.

Reading block 34

રામ રસાયન તુમ્હરે પાસા | સદા રહો રઘુપતિ કે દાસા ||

rāma rasāyana tumhare pāsā | sadā raho raghupati ke dāsā ||

Rama’s sustaining essence is with you; always remain the servant of the Raghu lord.

Reading block 35

તુમ્હરે ભજન રામકો પાવે | જનમ જનમ કે દુઃખ બિસરાવૈ ||

tumhare bhajana rāmako pāve | janama janama ke duḥkha bisarāvai ||

Through devotion to you one reaches Rama and forgets the sorrows of birth after birth.

Reading block 36

અન્ત કાલ રઘુબર પુર જાઈ | જહાં જન્મ હરી ભકત કહાઈ ||

anta kāla raghubara pura jāī | jahāṃ janma harī bhakata kahāī ||

At life’s end one goes to Rama’s city; on being born there, one is called a devotee of Hari.

Reading block 37

ઔર દેવતા ચિત ન ધરઈ | હનુમંત સેઈ સર્વ સુખ કરઈ ||

aura devatā cita na dharaī | hanumaṃta seī sarva sukha karaī ||

Without turning the mind to other deities, serving Hanuman brings every happiness.

Reading block 38

સંકટ કટે મિટૈ સબ પીરા | જો સુમિરૈ હનુમંત બલવીરા ||

saṃkaṭa kaṭe miṭai saba pīrā | jo sumirai hanumaṃta balavīrā ||

Distress ends and all pain disappears for whoever remembers the mighty Hanuman.

Reading block 39

જય, જય, જય, હનુમાન ગોસાઈ | કૃપા કરહુ ગુરુ દેવકી નાઈ ||

jaya, jaya, jaya, hanumāna gosāī | kṛpā karahu guru devakī nāī ||

Hail, hail, hail, Lord Hanuman! Show kindness as a revered teacher would.

Reading block 40

જો સતબાર પાઠ કર કોઈ | છુટહિ બન્દિ મહા સુખ હોઈ ||

jo satabāra pāṭha kara koī | chuṭahi bandi mahā sukha hoī ||

Whoever recites it a hundred times is freed from bondage and gains great happiness.

Satabār is read here in its traditional sense of one hundred times. This is the hymn’s statement, not an added instruction to count repetitions.

Part 3 · blocks 41–49

Reading block 41

જો યહ પઢૈ હનુમાન ચાલીસા | હોય સિધ્ધિ સાખી ગૌરીસા ||

jo yaha paḍhai hanumāna cālīsā | hoya sidhdhi sākhī gaurīsā ||

Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains accomplishment, with the lord of Gauri as witness.

Reading block 42

તુલસીદાસ સદા હરિ ચેરા | કીજે નાથ હદય મહં ડેરા ||

tulasīdāsa sadā hari cerā | kīje nātha hadaya mahaṃ ḍerā ||

Tulsidas is always Hari’s servant. Lord, make your dwelling in his heart.

Reading block 43

પવન તનય સંકટ હરન મંગલ મૂરતિ રુપ | રામલખનસીતા સહિત હૃદય બસહુ સુરભૂપ ||

pavana tanaya saṃkaṭa harana maṃgala mūrati rupa | rāmalakhanasītā sahita hṛdaya basahu surabhūpa ||

Son of the Wind, remover of distress, embodiment of auspiciousness: dwell in my heart with Rama, Lakshmana and Sita, lord of the gods.

|| siyāvara rāmacaṃdra kī jaya ||

Hail Ramachandra, Sita’s beloved!

Reading block 45

|| રમાપતિ રામચંદ્ર કી જય ||

Hail Ramachandra, consort of Ramā!

Ramā is an epithet of Lakshmi; it is distinct from the masculine name Rāma. The source calls Ramachandra Ramāpati (Ramā’s consort).
