Sources and editorial policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026.
Devotional library provides selected Hindu devotional editions with source references and distinct reading layers. This policy explains what the edition notes and reuse notices mean. The source catalogue below and each reader identify the particular material.
Selected texts and versions
A source transcription is wording taken from an identified source witness, including community Wikisource transcriptions whose revision is recorded. Such a transcription is not a critical edition or proof that every tradition uses the same wording. Source spelling and retained variants belong to the selected version. Edition notes identify completeness within that version, omissions, retained uncertainties and material changes where relevant.
The original language and script are identified on the reader. The Hindi interface changes labels and navigation; it does not translate the original text. Devanagari and Gujarati originals remain distinct. A Devanagari rendering of a Gujarati witness, where provided, is a reading layer rather than a replacement original.
Latin transliteration represents written characters to help follow the source. It does not certify pronunciation, metre, ritual eligibility or recitation technique. Navigation blocks and headings help reading; they do not create an authoritative liturgical division.
Meaning, attribution and review
An English literal meaning layer, where available, is prepared for this library from the identified source edition and credited in the reader. It is separate from the original, not a reproduction of a named modern publisher’s translation and not a Hindi translation. A text without that layer is not advertised as having an English translation. Explanatory notes identify important ambiguity and edition differences where relevant.
Source checking and technical validation do not amount to religious approval. Attribution to an author, archive, community or publisher does not imply endorsement of this library or its adaptations. A statement about review concerns only the particular edition and scope described, not every possible version or practice. Readers should seek appropriate guidance from their own teacher or tradition for religious practice.
Source records and changes
Each reader identifies its source link, title or attribution, recorded revision, edition scope and applicable license. Some edition detail remains in English in the Hindi interface and is labelled as such. Public source references let you compare a passage with its witness. They do not claim that the source archive’s image, website layout, modern commentary, audio or another translation is included or licensed here.
Preserving source wording does not imply agreement with every statement in that source. Traditional benefit claims describe devotional context, not guaranteed spiritual, medical or personal outcomes. See the Terms and Conditions for service scope.
Reuse and downloads
Material-specific notices take priority over general site permissions. Selected community transcriptions and identified derived renderings or English meaning are offered under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license as indicated in their notices. That license permits reuse, including commercial use, subject to its conditions, such as attribution, noting changes and share-alike where applicable. No additional restriction is imposed on uses it permits.
A general source license does not establish rights in every underlying work. Ancient or traditional composition, community transcription, modern translation, scan image and typographic edition can have separate rights. An assessment for a named country is not worldwide public-domain clearance. Applicable public-domain use and statutory exceptions remain, but must be assessed under the relevant country’s law.
Printable reading sheets and PDFs provided here are reader copies carrying edition, attribution and license information; they are not facsimiles of a publisher’s original book or an official ritual edition. Keep the included notices when copying and follow the applicable license. A download function does not confer rights absent from the relevant material’s notice.
Corrections and rights concerns
We may revise source information, correct wording or meaning, or remove material when a problem is identified. A changed edition can require choosing a new saved place; the library does not promise a permanent archive of every version. Please contact [email protected] with the page address, passage and explanation, and the relevant source or rights basis where available. Avoid unnecessary personal information.
Source catalogue: read with the edition in view.
